Delaware Valley Charter High School’s Arts Department is celebrating Black History Month through the arts. Department students will perform songs and scenes, read poems, model urban fashion through the ages, and discuss the evolution of art in regards to Black culture. Students from Several Philadelphia-area High Schools Attend College-Prep Program at Delaware Valley Charter High School
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is presenting its signature, youth-enrichment ASCEND℠ program to college-bound students from more than a dozen different high schools.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Feb. 19, 2015) — Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. sorority members of the Philadelphia Omega Omega Chapter will be leading college-bound students and parents in career-oriented activities through its signature ASCEND℠ program at Delaware Valley Charter High School from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015.

DVCHS Blood Drive Produces Outstanding Results
On Friday, January 23 Delaware Valley Charter High School held a blood drive. Organized by Byron Jenkins and Nixlot Dameus for their Senior Project, the blood drive was extremely successful!
The goal for the drive was to collect 42 pints of blood. With 63 student/faculty participants, DVCHS ended up collecting 43 pints, achieving 103% of the goal!
Approximately 129 hospital patients can benefit from the generous donation from all DVCHS participants.
DVCHS Youth Court Featured in Philadelphia Tribune
"The fatal shooting last fall of a 15-year-old girl making her way home from school has grown into a teachable moment. Albert Einstein Medical Center helped pay for a program at the girl’s high school focused on helping resolve conflicts." Read more here.
Chinese Headmaster Visits DVCHS
He Haijiang, Headmaster of Fuxing Middle School in China, visited DVCHS for a week this fall. During his visit, the Headmaster visited Chinatown, attended a Philadelphia 76ers game, and taught a Mandarin class. The visit was a part of the new partnership between DVCHS and Fuxing Middle School, which will allow students from both schools to participate in brief exchange programs.

Delaware Valley Charter High School Opening School for Discussion on Social Justice on Martin Luther King Jr. Day
The Philadelphia Community of Leaders Organization (PCLO) is holding an event at Delaware Valley Charter High School in the second-floor classrooms. A trained facilitator will lead attendees in informative and challenging activities to encourage participants to stand up, speak up and shout out for social justice in an exercise that is a call to action and a first step in nation-building efforts within the black community. Participants will learn about and assess the legacy of black protest and social justice.
Board Meetings will be held on the 3rd
Tuesday of every month at 3:30 PM throughout the 2014-2015 school year.
These meetings are open to the public and are held at school.

DVCHS Anticipates Visit from Headmaster of Sister School in China
Delaware Valley Charter High School (DVCHS) eagerly awaits the arrival of Handan, China sister school headmaster, He Haijiang of Fuxing High School. Haijiang, who is traveling with 10-12 colleagues, will arrive in Boston in early November to attend education conferences and visit their perspective exchange schools. Read more.
